This book provides windows into the daily life of Arturo Rodriguez and his family. Arturo's family is Mexican and lives in an area of Los Angeles that they call the barrio. This area of L.A. is not without its problems. There are gangs and poverty. There is also love, kindness, and friendship. Through the stories of the Rodriguez family, the reader will find themselves seeing how good can conquer all even in the most challenging of situations. I recommend this book to those who like stories of people overcoming difficulties.
I am a book loving elementary school teacher librarian. This blog reflects my personal opinions about the books I have read and is intended to be used by students and teachers who are looking for a book recommendation.
