Genre: Realistic Fiction
Age Recommendation: Grade 5+
"The Unteachables" are a group of grade 8 students who are either considered to be trouble makers or unable to learn. Their teacher this year is Mr. Kermit, who only needs to finish this school year and will qualify for early retirement. Mr. Kermit used to be a star teacher, but he hasn't had any enthusiasm for teaching in a long time. Will this group of students spark his love of teaching again? This is an excellent book. I especially enjoyed that the story is told from multiple perspectives - Mr. Kermit, the students in his class, the vice principal, and even Mr. Kermit's past students. I highly recommend this book.
I am a book loving elementary school teacher librarian. This blog reflects my personal opinions about the books I have read and is intended to be used by students and teachers who are looking for a book recommendation.
