Kate’s family is struggling to keep their farm. Her mother works hard to pay the bills, but it's just not enough. Kate and her two brothers are about to face a long hot summer with nothing to do, but then she and her brothers meet their neighbours, a close African-American family. This story is an interesting read and deals with issues of friendship, racism and growing up.
