This Silver Birch 2024 nominee tells the story of Jake and his move to the Regency.  Jake didn't want to leave his old neighbourhood, but when his mom lost her job, they had to find a new place to live. Since Jake's grandpa had left an apartment to a family member who was in need, the Regency becomes their new home.  At first, Jake just thinks the place is a dump, but when he starts helping the superintendent and meeting some of the other residents he becomes attached to the Regency.  Unfortunately, shortly after, Jake learns that the building is set to be demolished.  Where will everyone go?  As Jake is scrambling to think of ways to help save the Regency, the call light for apartment 713 goes off.  That's strange.  The superintendent told him nobody lived there and that the apartment is off limits.  Jake investigates and is transported to the past.  Jake finds himself in the early days of the Regency.  Will Jake be able to help the past residents of the Regency?  Will helping the people of the past help the Regency of the future?  Read this interesting book to find out.
