Peter Lee's Notes From The Field By: Angela Ahn

Genre: Realistic Fiction
Age Recommendation: Grade 4+

Peter Lee loves dinosaurs and has always dreamed of becoming a paleontologist.  Peter is in the fifth grade and has a younger gifted sister, L.B.  Peter's family lives near his grandparents, Hammy and Haji, and spend a lot of time with them, so it only seems natural that they would join the family when they plan a summer trip to The Royal Tyrell Museum.  This trip will allow Peter to try out field work with real paleontologists and he is very much looking forward to it.  Unfortunately, things don't turn out quite how Peter had dreamed and to top things off, his grandmother, Hammy, is acting strange.  Peter and L.B. begin observing Hammy carefully and what they notice has them both concerned.  Read the story to find out how they help Hammy.  This book is a Silver Birch 2022 nominee.  I found it to have a bit of a slow start, but once I got into the story I found it to be a very touching tale about family and finding one's self.  I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys realistic fiction.
