Genre: Historical Fiction
Age Recommendation: Grade 6+
When 14 year old Thomas heads to the general store to pick up a few things for his mother, he doesn't expect anything out of the ordinary to happen, but this is the War of 1812 and American soldiers don't always pay for the things they need which ends up getting Thomas wrapped up in the action he dreamed about. Thomas ends up helping Lieutenant Fitzgibbon and his famous Bully Boys in their fight against the Americans in the Niagara Region. This historical fiction novel is based on the actual adventures of the real Lieutenant Fitzgibbon and includes references to General Brock and Laura Secord. This is an exciting story and would make a great read for anyone studying the War of 1812.
