Genre: Realistic Fiction
Age Recommendation: Grade 6+
Patina, better known as Patty, is a runner, the fastest one on her track team. Patina has a lot on her shoulders. She helps take care of her little sister Maddy, does her best to try and fit in at her fancy new school and has a new family arrangement to accept. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Patina is a very likable and interesting character. I am very impressed by the way Jason Reynolds created such a believable voice for Patty. I highly recommend this book to people who enjoy realistic fiction and seeing how people work with the challenges life gives them. This is the second book in the Track series, but it is a stand-alone book.
I am a book loving elementary school teacher librarian. This blog reflects my personal opinions about the books I have read and is intended to be used by students and teachers who are looking for a book recommendation.
