Genre: Fiction/YA
Age Recommendation: Grade 7/8
It's the first day of grade seven and Bob isn't particularly excited about returning to school. Things start to get strange when the principal brings in a new student, Imre. Imre's family was the victim of a nuclear accident and he was the sole survivor, only he isn't really alive, he's more like a zombie. As time passes, Bob realizes that Imre isn't such a bad guy, if you can get past the occasional loose body part, but not everyone feels the same about Imre. Bob and his best friend Evil-O are about to embark on a really unusual grade seven year. This book was nominated for the Red Maple Award and has some great messages about discrimination, as well as some laughs.
I am a book loving elementary school teacher librarian. This blog reflects my personal opinions about the books I have read and is intended to be used by students and teachers who are looking for a book recommendation.
