Genre: Realistic Fiction
Age Recommendation: Grade 7/8
When Ryan first learns that a new pulp and paper mill is coming to East Harbour, he thinks it's a good thing. But when his girlfriend, Alana, opens his eyes to the environmental devastation the mill will create, he changes his mind. Ryan and Alana seem to be the only ones who are against the mill and have a tough fight ahead of them. Set in Nova Scotia, this is a good story about how humans often put jobs and money ahead of the environment. This story shows us that we can make a difference if we are willing to stand up for what we believe in.
I am a book loving elementary school teacher librarian. This blog reflects my personal opinions about the books I have read and is intended to be used by students and teachers who are looking for a book recommendation.
