This story is told from the point of view of 10 year old Anne Marie, a Danish girl living through World War Two. Her friend, Ellen, is Jewish and they often reminisce about life before the war. German soldiers walk the streets and it is not safe for Jewish people. Young Anne Marie soon finds her self helping in a dangerous escape plan for her dear friend Ellen and others. The text is descriptive and there are several tense moments that make you want to keep reading this book.
