Island of the Blue Dolphins By: Scott O’Dell

This book is based on the story of a girl who lived alone on an island in the Pacific from 1835-1853. Although it can be a little slow moving, it is an interesting story, especially when you realize that it is based on actual events. I would suggest that reader's begin with the author's note to help with understanding and enjoyment.
