Jordan is a thirteen year old basketball star. He lives in a small town with his parents. His best friend Junior is more like a brother and the two are inseparable. Unfortunately, things aren't good between Jordan's parents. They argue a lot and decide that it's time for them to separate. This turns Jordan's world upside down, especially when he finds out that the reason for the separation is that his father is gay. Jordan struggles with this and the other changes that are happening in his life. His actions land him in some trouble, including jeopardizing his place on the basketball team. This Red Maple 2023 nominee is an excellent story about family and friendship. I recommend this book to those who enjoy realistic fiction.
