Nic and his sister Livia have been slaves in the mines outside of Rome for years when Nic is forced into a cavern to search for Julius Caesar's lost treasures. Other slaves have died searching for Caesar's treasures, but Nic not only finds them, but escapes the collapsing cavern on the back of a griffin with a magical bulla around his neck. This is where the adventure and danger begins in Nic's life as he learns to control the magic that is now a part of him. This is an exciting story set in ancient Rome and includes the magic of the gods and goddesses. If you are a fan of the Percy Jackson series, you are bound to enjoy this book.
