With a title like, "Elvis, Me, And The Lemonade Stand Summer", I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but my curiosity was definitely peaked. Truly is eleven years old and lives at Eagle Shores Trailer Park with her mother Clarice. Clarice isn't exactly a caring and concerned mother, but fortunately Truly has a caring community in the trailer park. At the centre of Truly's trailer park family is Andy El, who gets Truly set up with running a lemonade stand for the summer. At first Truly is reluctant, but then she comes up with a secret plan to save her money so she can visit Vancouver and try to find her father, who she has never met. One day while Truly is at her lemonade stand, Elvis comes into the park and rents a trailer for the summer. This story is heartbreaking at times, but is also heartwarming as the reader and Truly come to the realization that she has a community of people who love and care about her. I highly recommend this Silver Birch 2022 story.
