Genre: Realistic Fiction
Age Recommendation: Grade 8+/YA
Madeline is sick - very sick. She has a rare disease that means her immune system is extremely weak. Because of this, she's spent the majority of her 18 years in her home with her mother and nurse. Madeline is relatively happy with her life until Olly moves next door. She develops a secret relationship with Olly and begins wondering if life is worth living if she has to stay inside all the time. Madeline's story is told in a variety of ways - typical chapters, text messages, illustrations, and letters. This is an interesting story with a surprising twist.
I am a book loving elementary school teacher librarian. This blog reflects my personal opinions about the books I have read and is intended to be used by students and teachers who are looking for a book recommendation.
