Genre: Realistic Fiction
Age Recommendation: Grade 7-8
Felix is nearly thirteen and lives in Vancouver with his mother, Astrid. Unfortunately, Astrid has a hard time keeping a job and they've had to move around a lot. Their latest move finds them living in a Volkswagen van which is an adventure during the summer months, but after 4 months it becomes less of a novelty. When Felix gets a spot on the trivia show, Who, What, Where, When, he thinks he has a chance to win enough money to make a big change in their lives. Told from the perspective of Felix, this is another great read by Susin Nielsen and offers a window into the world of the hidden homeless. I highly recommend this Red Maple 2020 Nominee.
I am a book loving elementary school teacher librarian. This blog reflects my personal opinions about the books I have read and is intended to be used by students and teachers who are looking for a book recommendation.
