Ingrid is eleven and lives in Toronto with her hard working parents. Ingrid's parents moved to Canada from Hungary, but never talk about their life there and Ingrid does not know any of her relatives. But then, out of the blue, a letter and airplane ticket arrive from her grandmother, Countess Liliane. Ingrid is surprised. Her grandmother is a Countess?! Ingrid's father does not want her to go to Hungary, but Ingrid persists and is allowed to go. Will Ingrid be able to pass her grandmother's test and prove she is worthy of being a Countess?
