Erich is a 17 year old German prisoner of war, working in a logging camp near Lethbridge, Alberta. Max is the 12 year old son of German immigrants. Neither of these young men is particularly popular in this time of heightened suspicions. The pair become unlikely allies and friends. This is an interesting look at a part of Canadian and World War 2 history that I was previously did not know about - German soldiers being taken to remote areas of Canada as prisoners.
