This is a fictional account of Iqbal Masih's life told through the eyes of a fellow child labourer, Fatima. Young Iqbal was sold into slavery when his parents could not afford to pay their loans. He, and his fellow child workers, are treated extremely poorly by their master and are forced to create intricate carpets in terrible conditions. When Iqbal manages to escape, things change for him and the children he works with. This book is based on the real Iqbal who had these experiences as a child in Pakistan. Iqbal's story is very moving. He was an incredible young change-maker.
