It is 1888 and eight year old Willy lives in Muskoka in a log house with his family. Sometimes he goes to Toronto with his mother to visit his uncle. It is here that Willy gets the idea to become a lamplighter when he grows up. At times the story doesn't flow very well from chapter to chapter, but this book provides an interesting viewpoint about life in early Canada.
I am a book loving elementary school teacher librarian. This blog reflects my personal opinions about the books I have read and is intended to be used by students and teachers who are looking for a book recommendation.
